End of Life Doula Certification Program.

An End-of-Life Doula, sometimes called a death doula, is a non-medical professional who provides emotional, spiritual, and practical support to individuals and their loved ones as they approach the end of life. The role is rooted in compassion, presence, and holistic care, helping to ensure that dying people experience dignity, peace, and respect during their final journey. The class will cover the role and responsibilities of an end-of-life doula as well as the following topics:
•Death and dying: cultural, psychological, and social perspectives
•Supporting the dying: communication, comfort, and presence
•Advance care planning and legal considerations
•Grief, bereavement, and self-care
•Ethics, boundaries, and professionalism
•Creating rituals and memorials
•Working alongside medical teams, hospice, and palliative care
Program Objectives and Outcomes: To provide training and certification to those called to work with terminal clients. Provide hands on experience through internship placement and practice development.
Who will this program benefit: Anyone interested in dying, those who have supported others in the past and those called to work with the dying

Required Reading: A book list will be provided.

Class Days and Dates: First and third Saturdays for 6 months

About the Presenter: Rev. Yvonne Andrews - Yvonne is an Ordained Interfaith Minister, Life,
Spiritual and Executive coach with over thirty years of experience helping people create significant changes that enhance their life. She is a mother of 7 and a foster mom to many. Yvonne has been a faculty member of Mount Wachusett Community College for over 20 years and has recently been appointed as faculty of Fitchburg State University. In addition to teaching she has a private practice in Fitchburg, MA. Yvonne offers Death Doula Certification and comprehensive training, spiritual cord cutting workshops, reiki, commitment ceremonies and other celebrations in life.
