This service falls on Judaism’s High Holy Day of Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. Yom Kippur invites us into a sacred time of reflection, forgiveness, reconciliation and returning to what is most holy within us. We will take a look at this powerful theme of atonement through the Jewish lens and across faith traditions. We’ll enhance our understanding that, at its heart, atonement concerns
repairing a rupture and restoring right relationship between human beings and the Divine, between people and within ourself. We will remind ourselves how At-One-ment brings our hearts closer to the Mystical Unity of God’s Oneness bringing us back into alignment with the whole.

Atonement has been one of those trigger words from my Christian roots that conjured up feelings of remorse and shame. Our Course in Miracles studies beautifully reframes atonement as the “correction or undoing of errors, teaching that the separation from God never actually happened.” I can resonate with that form of at-onement. I am an ordained Tree of Life Interfaith minister.
