LEARN

Education — of the heart and mind — is a vital part of our mission.

We fulfill this call through three major elements:

Our Interfaith Seminary, Spiritual Mentoring Certificate Program, and Classes and Workshops.

SEMINARY

The Interfaith Seminary program is a two-year, self-paced program that allows for a safe and inner-exploratory pathway to sacred connection and union with the Creative Source of Love. Ordination into ministry is available for those who choose that path.

SPIRITUAL MENTORING CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

The Spiritual Mentoring Certificate Program is a one-year program designed to provide the skills to provide the service of spiritual mentoring, also called spiritual direction or spiritual companioning.

Backpacking with the Saints: Wilderness Hiking as Spiritual Practice

Carrying only basic camping equipment and a collection of the world's great spiritual writings, Belden C. Lane embarks on solitary spiritual treks through the Ozarks and across the American Southwest. For companions, he has only such teachers as Rumi, John of the Cross, Hildegard of Bingen, Dag Hammarskjöld, and Thomas Merton, and as he walks, he engages their writings with the natural wonders he encounters--Bell Mountain Wilderness with Søren Kierkegaard, Moonshine Hollow with Thich Nhat Hanh--demonstrating how being alone in the wild opens a rare view onto one's interior landscape, and how the saints' writings reveal the divine in nature.

An Ordinary Life Transformed: A 20-Class Study of the Bhagavad  Gita

    Rev. Dr. Stephanie Rutt

    The Tree of Life Hermitage

I've always said, "It's good to know. But it's better to Know." Why? We can have read all the books, earned any number of theological degrees and, still, have never had an experience of the One - an experience to which we can only point and yet is more real to us than all we know. I believe, ideally, a good combination of knowledge and experience is best which is why I'm dreaming The Tree of Life Hermitage. Here is a place where I'll be offering some of the programs I've created, along with new ones, weaving together the experiential with the understanding.

    First up: A 20-class study of the Bhagavad Gita . . .

Deep in the hearts of all, there is the light of all lights, forever beyond darkness. (13:17)

Back by popular demand, I'm offering a 20-week study of the Bhagavad Gita! This class will be 1/3 experiential and 2/3 discussion and sharing.  The experiential part will include any combination of walking mediation, mantra prayer, simple circle dance, and contemplative meditation.  Each week we will focus on a chapter, and you'll be asked to consider the Questions for Reflection at the chapter's end which will guide our discussion and sharing time. We'll also be learning and chanting several of the slokas in Sanskrit.  I'm very excited about integration the experiential aspect with our book study of this Song of God!

Program Objectives and Outcomes:  1) To step into an experiential exploration of the universal teachings and principles. 2) To study and apply the universal teachings to everyday life

Required Reading:  An Ordinary Life Transformed:  Lessons for Everyone from the Bhagavad Gita

Who will this program benefit?  Any seeker

    Prerequisites (if any):  Divine curiosity

    Second Saturday Deep Gong Immersion

    REV. LINDA GOODMAN

Gongs have been tools for healing, relaxation, and connecting with Spirit for thousands of years. There is evidence that places the use of the gong as far back as 16,000 B.C.

In a gong bath, you simply lie back and let the deep, penetrating sounds of the gong wash over you (hence the term "bath"). The frequencies of the gong will quickly transport you into the theta and delta brain waves of deepest meditation where guidance may be received, buried emotional trauma may be released, and healing may occur at the innermost vibrational level.

We welcome you into this altered state.

Program Objectives:  Achieving a state of deep relaxation, meditation, and healing.

Who will this program benefit?  Everyone

    A Course in Miracles
    CORRINE NIKOLENKO

A Course in Miracles (ACIM) discussion group for anyone interested in learning about the Course for the first time, or for those with experience interested in sharing their interpretations of the material. ACIM is a form of "spiritual psychology", where you can learn to see the peace instead of the chaos of life. The course uses Christian terms in the material, but any terms can be substituted for those used in this self-taught course. The course aims at removing the blocks to the awareness of love's presence. "This course can therefore be summed up very simply in this way: Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God." Introduction, ACIM.

Program Objectives and Outcomes: To give participants possibly another path to inner peace to practice.

Required / Suggested Reading: A Course in Miracles (Combined book) with the Text, Workbook for Students, and Manual for Teachers in one book. (Most editions being sold now are the combined this way.) It is published by the Foundation for Inner Peace. About Corrine: I am a 25-year spiritual seeker. Interested in learning about and discussing all types of spirituality in my spare time. I have spent 25 years on and off studying A Course in Miracles. I facilitated an ACIM discussion group in my United Methodist church in Sacramento, CA in 2004. The group continued on their own for 5 years after I moved to NH, so I guess they liked it.
